How can we help?
SnapCopy selects an area of your screen and copies a screenshot or five-second silent video straight to the clipboard.
Allow screen access
Open System Settings, choose Privacy & Security, then Screen Recording (or Screen & System Audio Recording on newer macOS versions). Turn on SnapCopy and reopen the app. SnapCopy never records audio.
Take a screenshot
Move the yellow box by dragging inside it. Resize it with a corner or edge handle, or drag outside it to draw a new box. Press Return or click Capture, then paste with Command-V.
Use the timer
Click 5-Second Capture. You can keep moving and resizing the box during the countdown. SnapCopy copies the image and closes when the timer reaches zero.
Record a video
Click Record 5-Second Video. SnapCopy records the selected area without audio, copies the .mov file to the clipboard and closes.
Remember or reset your area
SnapCopy restores your last captured area when you open it again. Choose SnapCopy > Reset Capture Area or press Command-R to clear the saved area and return to the original centred selection.
Paste a video
After recording, press Command-V in an app that accepts .mov video files. Some apps accept pasted images but do not accept video files from the clipboard.
Check compatibility
SnapCopy requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer.
Cancel a capture
Press Escape. SnapCopy closes and leaves the current clipboard unchanged.
